Endangered Species Preserve to Exceed 30,000 Acres

The Balcones Canyonland Preserve, which includes portions of Barton Creek, is created to protect eight endangered species. Acquisitions will continue over a 30-year period primarily by the City of Austin and Travis County.
The Balcones Canyonland Preserve protects 32,270 acres and the National Wildlife Refuge protects 27,000 acres to date.
