City Council unanimously passes an ordinance requiring developers to set aside 5 acres of parkland for each 1,000 new residents planned in their development projects. The move addresses affordability challenges faced by the city endeavoring to equip new neighborhoods with public parks.

A city is like a family. You have to make sacrifices for the betterment of the whole family. Developers are making money in Austin and we know that. We're saying put some back into the community.
