The first long-term study of Barton Creek reveals a still pristine system in many respects, but one that is at risk. Recommendations for preservation include easement and wildlife area expansion and the improvement of flood and water quality control structures.

The general understanding of the Barton Creek system informed our work as we faced new threats to the system, and identified pavement sealants as the source of PAH contamination in Barton Creek and Barton Springs.
