The Imagine Austin Plan zeros in on the idea of compact development to attain goals for economic vibrancy and reduced ecological impact. Supporters embrace environmental ideals outlined in the plan, but others remain skeptical that they will manifest into implementable policies.
The Imagine Austin plan took two years to win city council approval. Revamping the land development code to reflect the plan's goals is expected to take much longer.
Other concerns take precedence and environment kinda get sometimes shoved aside. They may be more concerned about the new urbanism. Is Imagine Austin actually going to do what it says it’s going to do? I don’t think it will.
